Using the Food Journal

There are over 10,000 food choices in the database, plus the Custom Food items that our EAT FIT coaches have added. The food journal is comprehensive...and gets easier, faster and more accurate as you increase your food journal entries.

Tips for Success!

  • It is important to log ALL ingredients of dishes.
This forces you to figure out what is in each dish that you are eating and is the best way to get a precise calorie count. (Example: Sweet & Sour Chicken dish-- log the rice, the chicken, and the sweet and sour sauce) The healthier that you are eating, the easier it will be to log. Think simple. Fewer ingredients may also mean fewer calories.

  • Buy a digital food scale.
You can purchase one at home-type stores such as Bed, Bath, and Beyond or kitchen supply stores. A digital food scale will help you properly measure your intake and make your logging easier. Precise measuring will play a key role in your success.

  • Use the Custom Foods button (scroll down to Custom Foods in the Other Tools menu and click on GO!) to enter the foods that you eat most often.
This will ensure that you will be logging the "right" number of calories consumed.. Take a half-hour this evening to load up most of your "favorites".. Our members who have taken the time to pre-load their favorite food brands have had the best weight loss success, because their reportings are 100% accurate. Look for an e-mail that will give you tips on how to load your Custom Foods.

  • A developed pattern of eating the same foods for each meal (whether they are custom entries or from the food library) will automatically pop up as your first choices in your search.
This will speed up your search time. The list will reflect the last 10 items that you have entered for that particular meal.

  • Navigate all of USA EAT FIT’s web site features to increase the speed and utilization of your membership.
